What is the hashtag?  Well, according to Dictionary.com, it’s no longer referenced as the pound sign.  No, it’s now linked to digital technology and helps to identify a keyword or topic of interest and facilitates searches online.

Upon further research on Urban Dicationary, the hashtag is seen as the “battle cry to hipsters,” a “recent baby name” and a “very small tic tac toe board.”  Jokes aside, there has been a heavy increase in the use of the hashtag on the Internet and it has gained relevance in the every day.
